Privacy Policy

Local-first privacy for pet scans.

Last updated: May 8, 2026. This policy explains what TickLens does with camera access, saved scans, AI analysis, purchases, diagnostics, support requests, and optional model-improvement submissions.

Summary

TickLens is a visual inspection aid for pet owners. The app is designed so scan images remain on your device and in Apple Photos unless you explicitly choose to share them. On-device AI review uses the CoreML model bundled with the app.

Camera

TickLens uses the camera while the scanner is open. Camera access is required for live filters, zoom, torch controls, and scan capture. TickLens does not continuously record in the background.

Photos and Scan History

When you capture a scan, TickLens may save the image to your Apple Photos library and keep local scan metadata such as date, filter, thumbnail path, notes, and AI review status. If you delete an image from Apple Photos, TickLens may keep a local history record while showing that the original photo is missing.

On-device AI

Tick detection runs locally using the bundled CoreML model. Scan images are not uploaded for AI analysis. The model is conservative: anything below the review threshold is treated as a manual-review situation, not as a confirmed detection.

Model Improvement Submissions

TickLens is still improving its model. We may offer an explicit opt-in workflow where users can submit images and labels to help train future versions. This will be separate from normal scanning, will require consent, and will explain what is being sent before upload. We do not use ordinary scan images for training unless you opt in.

Diagnostics and App Events

TickLens may collect basic app events, purchase validation events, and crash diagnostics to operate subscriptions, measure reliability, and improve product quality. These events may include feature names, timestamps, subscription state, device or app diagnostics, and anonymous session identifiers. They should not include your scan images.

Purchases

Subscriptions and payments are processed by Apple. TickLens may validate purchases to unlock premium access and restore purchases. Apple’s own privacy terms apply to payment processing.

Support

If you contact support, we use the information you provide to respond. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for the request. If you voluntarily send a scan image for troubleshooting, we use it for support unless we ask for and receive separate permission to use it for model training.

Children

TickLens is intended for pet owners and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
